Very helpful post. It has been very difficult for me to find anything good on this topic. thanks.

I agree that serving the “over 50 crowd” is a great thing to get into. Keep in mind that this type of crowd is not into computers or the Internet! Home delivery is also a great idea here, not just to the elderly (over 70 crowd), but also to the handicapped. A delivery service is great as long as you set strict hours and make sure you make yourself time for lunch and rest.

Great article, and thank you for the ideas.

Thanks for the reply. I wouldn’t rule out the over 50 crowd as being non-technical. They were only in their thirties when the personal computer was launched. But one needs to be aware of different knowledge bases when looking at different age groups that’s for sure. I agree that delivery services can be a great business. You just want to make sure you have a big enough market that is willing to pay for such services. Thank you again for your comment!

I agree, products for pets, even information products, are hot. Just do a keyword search on “dogs” or “cats” and you’ll get an avalanche of search phrases many with tens of thousands of searches a month.

On top of that, many many product manufacturers will drop ship, making a web based pet business a slam dunk.

  11. LTruex says:

Hi Stig, There are many great opportunities if people just do the research and implement with a plan. Thanks for posting.

  12. Tayna says:

I recently read in AARP that more businesses are started by people over 55 than people in their 20′s and 30′s! Most of your great ideas would be things that older folks could handle.

  13. LTruex says:

Great point Tayna. People 55 and over have lots of great skills and experiences that help them start a business or freelance. Thanks for posting.
