Notes From Leslie
I just had to share my story about ordering Jeff Paul's Shortcuts To Internet Millions. Yes, even I sometimes buy infomercial products. Today, I get them mostly to review and see if they have something new to share. My experiences have been that infomercial products (those about making money) often do have information about how to make money; however, that same information can usually be found in greater detail and for less money in a book from your bookstore or library. Further, with infomercial products, you have to put up with the upsell and follow-up calls. UGH!!

One bright spot in the ordering process for the Shortcuts to Internet Millions was that my call wasn't taken by a real person. The bad part of this automated system is that its just as pushy on the upsell (additional products or services for extra moolah) and in fact several times didn't offer me a "no" option. I simply stayed on the phone, saying and pressing nothing. It would repeat the question again, usually 2 or 3 more times before giving me an option to pass. When I was done, I was told someone would be on to verify my order, but instead it hung up on me.

Regardless, the order did arrive in a week (I paid for faster service) and included 3 reports varying from 35 to 60 pages, and a couple of audio CD's that tell me I can only listen on my computer. What's that about? I don't listen to CD's on my computer because I'm usually multitasking and can't compute and listen at the same time.  I'd rather listen to them when I drive. But for the purpose of this review, I have skimmed them.

The books supply accurate information about making money online, but there aren't any "secrets".  It offers online marketing ideas and tips on creating your own products, such as ebooks. However, none of the materials (unless its on the CD's) gives specific information on using the 10 free sites to make money. The Quick Start Internet Marketing Toolkit
outlines how to pick products, but then goes into web hosting, and website design. It does cover some internet marketing as well, but its not very detailed and offers just a handful of ideas. Further, neither this book, or anything else in the package addresses how to use the free sites specifically. The Best Kept Internet Marketing Secrets Guide provides brainstorming activities to choose business products, explains different types of products (ebooks, membership sites, etc), gives a tutorial on copywriting, and provides different ways of packaging products. The Confidential Guide to Internet Products on Demand provides information on affiliate programs, joint ventures and other methods for getting/creating products. Again there is nothing wrong with the information, but its nothing new.

Two of the CD's are "Step-by-step" instructions. They too cover many of the details provided in the books such as targeting a market, choosing or creating products, joint ventures. etc. Intant Internet Cash Marketing Bible maybe the most valuable part of the collection with several PDF manuals on internet marketing topic.

The program also comes with 10 free websites. To get those you have to go online, sign up with Clickbank and Paypal and then choose premade sites already set up. This is a good feature as it can have someone up and running with several various websites in a matter of minutes (3 clicks). But the reality is you can go online and sign up for any number of affiliate programs (which is what this program essentially has you do) for free. If Mr. Paul's system offered automatic traffic to your sites, that would be something because it doesn't matter if you have one or one hundred websites, you won't make any money from them if you don't market them. But this system doesn't offer very clear step-by-step advice on internet marketing, and there are no additional marketing tips through the website. I guess that is so that you'll upgrade and buy the coaching.

This week I got a call from Christopher at Jeff Paul's Shortcuts to Internet Millions. He ask if I wanted to invest more money to work with an Internet marketing coach. I told him I wasn't interestd. I even told him I already worked at home, and was researching the program to review on my site. Maybe he didn't understand, because he told me, "Well, if you don't want to earn $5000 per month from home, then you're not who I want to talk to."  Ah, no I guess not. Why do sales people think that being rude and making people feel bad will lead to a sale? I suppose it must work sometimes, but it just makes me angry. I nearly asked him, "If this program is so good, then why are you working as a telemarketer instead of making $5000 per month from home?"

The cost of the program is $39.95 plus $14 shipping (add an extra $9.00) to get it in a week. Again, its not bad, but it is designed for the new person, isn't very well organized, and fails to provide step-by-step instruction for utilized the 10 free websites. For the cost and what you get, I think you're better off getting Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook (or her hard copy books How To Make a Fortune Selling Other People's Stuff
- by the way, don't bother with the Affiliate Millions that Amazon pairs with Gardner's book). For info products, check out Stephanie Chandler's From Entrepreneur to Infopreneur  or Dan Kennedy's The Official Get Rich Guide to Information Marketing will teach you about ebooks and other information products. Also get a good Internet marketing book, and you'll have all the same info, in greater detail, no upsell hassles, for about the same price.

How to Use WAHS Jobs and News: On occasion I get an email from someone who can't find the jobs posted in this newsletter, so I thought I'd give a quick overview on how to use the ezine.  In the section above this one, you'll find the contents of this week's ezine. Each feature now has a link so you can easily find the information you are looking for.  Each feature (Notes From Leslie, Tidbits, Jobs, etc) is separated by a color divider which the section contents indicated in the divider. For example, if you scroll down you'll find a blue divider that says, "Tips, Tidbits and Inspiration". Below that section you'll find a green divider that says "Work At Home Jobs".

I also want to point out that the only jobs (employment) listed in this ezine are listed in the Job section.  Any other work-at-home opportunities you come across will be affiliate programs, home businesses or work-at-home resources. So if you are hear solely for the jobs, you'll want to stick to the Work-At-Home Job feature.

Quick note on ads... I just want to remind readers that Work-At-Home Success  does accept advertising. Every attempt is made to check ads to make sure they offer legitimate opportunities. I have refunded or refused ads in the past that were found to be suspect. The site also feeds ads from Google Adsense. I do try to screen ads run through this service and block the scams; however, new ads are added all the time and they rotate making it difficult to always find the duds. If you find an ad that is questionable, please email me so I can remove it ASAP. Also, while WAHS runs ads, that doesn't mean it endorses the product or service offered. The Seven Secrets Of Top Performers

By James Arthur Ray

Let's put to rest the fallacy that success, in sales or any profession, is due to luck, chance, and/or hard work. There is nothing further from the truth. Think about it, you and I both know people who work incredibly hard, putting in long hours, they may even have two jobs, but they are not consistently (if ever) successful. Hard work certainly contributes to success, but hard work alone will not make you top-flight in your industry. Is success due, then, to luck or chance?

After years of study, in a multitude of industries, I have come to the conclusion that success is an absolute science. In other words, there are exact principles of thought and action that all top performers universally and consistently exhibit. Let's examine seven of these principles more closely:

1. High achievers know exactly what they want.
I was recently working with top sales professionals on a seven-city tour of Canada. In these seminars, I invariably asked people what they wanted to achieve in the upcoming year. Many people had a vague idea of what they wanted (or what they thought they could achieve); and even more knew what they didn't want; but the high performers knew in measurable terms, what they wanted to accomplish in every area of their life. Without a doubt, this type of clarity and focus is power!

2. Top performers visualize themselves in possession of their desired results.
I have interviewed thousands of the worlds most successful and without fail they see themselves winning every single day. Whether in business or athletics: Jack Nicholas in golf, Michael Jordan in basketball, the million-dollar sales producer I spoke with last week, they all have this in common. Visualizing is the key to realizing!

3. The highly successful have an unbending belief in themselves and their abilities.
Winners believe they will win in advance, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. A common mistake among would-be achievers is the notion that "if I become more skilled in my profession I will succeed." Yet how many highly skilled people do you know that are not profiting every single day? Often two people go through the same training course and acquire the same skills -- yet one becomes a huge success and one accomplishes nothing. The answer lies in the individuals belief system and the unshakable conviction that he or she will win.

4. Achievers take action "as if" they were already in possession of the goal they desire.
High achievers think, work, talk, play, and take action like the person they want to become. This means turning away from current results and focusing, believing, and acting "as if" you were already there. Understand that your current results are the direct outcomes of the past. The past does not equal the future.

5. Winners take full responsibility for their own destiny.
Winners get results! Results are not equal to no-results-and-a-good-story. Many sales professionals are better at making excuses than they are at making money. "It's the economy, it's the location, my prices are too high." You can always come up with a good story, but winners hold themselves accountable. Only when you take accountability for everything in your life can you be responsible to change anything.

6. Top performers build high-leveraged partnerships.
No one in today's world can make it alone. There is just too much to learn and things are changing too rapidly. High achievers always spend time with other high achievers. Like attracts like. They attend the same events, eat at the same restaurants, join the same churches and clubs. Your business and social environment is more important than your heredity, choose your relationships and partnerships wisely.

7. Great achievers are great givers.
Achievers ask: "How can I provide more value? How can I give to others, to my teammates, employees, clients. What can I do to make it better?" Winners always give 10 times more value than they ask for in return.

Success happens according to universal laws and timeless principles. Understand and utilize them and you will win. It works for everyone....every time.

Marketing Tips

Your Rockin' Red Hot Online Media Room

By Penny Sansevieri

Did you know that second only to your blog, the media room should be the most updated page on your website? When was the last time you updated your media room? For most of us, it's probably been a while. We tend to put up media rooms and then forget about them. But more and more, a good, informative media room should be consistently updated.

We've found through research, reading, and our own experiences that often it's not just the media that visits this page, that's why the term "media room" is a bit misleading. It's actually a great place to inform, entertain, and educate your reader on you, your books, your message or product, and the things you've been up to, and often it's the first place a prospective buyer will go to for more information on you and your work.

In order to compete in the digital age, more and more authors are turning to their media rooms to attract readers to their book. Why? Well it's a great one-stop-shop place to get all the latest data on your books, new editions, new products and new speaking events (should you decide to list them).

The old way of doing media rooms was to have a list of your press releases, maybe a link or two to media and that was that. Now media rooms are almost the nerve center of your entire website. Here's a quick rundown of what should (and shouldn't) be in your media room. Keep in mind that components of a media room will vary, depending on your topic, genre and focus, so if you can't include all of these, that's ok. Better to have only those components related to your book/product/topic than ones that don't make any sense at all:

1) Downloadable picture of your book cover or covers, your photo and other related artwork you want to offer.

2) About You: people want to know who you are, so tell them! Make sure your bio is on the media room and ready to download. It's especially helpful if a media person is trying to gather information for an article and wants some background on you.

3) Press releases with live links: a few issues back we wrote that live links in a press release are a great way to get traffic back to your site, but guess what? It works well in reverse, too. News posted to your site gets spidered very quickly, so including links and keywords will greatly enhance the visibility of both the media room and your press release. In fact another quick tip is this: instead of placing ads, issue a press release. No kidding. Press releases are a far better alternative than an ad on the Internet. You'll get spidered, you'll get ranking and best of all, you'll get traffic.

4) New book/product information: this is the perfect place for sharing past, current, and future information on your book. Be boastful! This your chance!

5) Tip sheets: we all know that the media loves tip sheets, but guess what? Your readers/consumers do, too. Fill your press room with any that you've created.

6) Where you've been featured: be very generous with this. Don't assume that if you have only been featured online that you should not list that. List everything! The more you can populate this room with links that make you look like the busy marketing person you are, the more attractive you'll be to your buyer and to the media.

7) Ideas for stories: if a reporter is perusing your site looking for story ideas, why not give it to him? Creating a pop up box that says "Here's how (insert your name) can help you with your story" is a great way to generate ideas for the media and get yourself a mention in an upcoming story or feature.

8) Bragging rights! If you have testimonials or reviews, place them here, too. While it's always good to sprinkle testimonials/reviews throughout your site, this is another great place to list them. Regardless of whether the visitor to your media room is the media or a reader, people like what other people like!

9) No hunting allowed! Don't make people hunt for information. The other day I was on a site looking for book pricing. I had to send an email to get a list of pricing, and why? Because it was confidential? Doubtful. But most people don't think to remove the extra steps. Shorten the staircase. Meaning: remove needless steps to the close. Put pricing, information sheets, whatever you have up on your media room so folks don't have to go on a hunting expedition for it.

10) Events: I took events off of my website a long time ago. Why? Because I do so much pop up stuff that I had a hard time keeping up with it. There's nothing worse than an outdated events page, but if you can keep yours up, great! Keep it current, the activity will look great on your media room.

A few final tips: don't even consider cramming all of this information onto your site if you're not going to deliver this in pop-up form. Check out http://www.amarketingexpert.com/media.html for an example of this. Also, deliver your text content in both PDF format as well as in text format so the search engines can spider it.

Don't limit yourself to the items mentioned above, experiment with other media room ideas that might not be listed here. Book videos, for example, might be another great addition to your media room. The key is, start thinking of your media room as a place to present yourself not just to the media, but to the world! This will change how you view this very important page on your site and help turn a ho-hum page into a rockin' red hot media room!
