eBay Sellers Plan to Strike
eBay recently announced a new fee structure to start Feb. 20, 2008, that will lower initial insertion fees, but increase final sale fees. The change has a big impact on sales over $25.01 and it has many sellers hoppin’ mad. Many are calling for a strike from Feb. 18-25th and others plan to close their accounts and start selling at Amazon or other auction sites.
AuctionBytes.com ran some numbers and determined that listing fees would go up as much as 33% depending on the number of items sold and final sales price. I have to admit, that’s a pretty steep jump.
On the other hand, eBay offers a great deal of resources to help people start selling quickly and safely, plus offers its brand recognition and value that bring in buyers. When you consider how much you'd spend on marketing to sell your wares from a website, eBay is an affordable choice.
