*****

How to Use WAHS Jobs and News: On occasion I get an email from someone who can't find the jobs posted in this newsletter, so I thought I'd give a quick overview on how to use the ezine.  In the section above this one, you'll find the contents of this week's ezine. Each feature now has a link so you can easily find the information you are looking for.  Each feature (Notes From Leslie, Tidbits, Jobs, etc) is separated by a color divider which the section contents indicated in the divider. For example, if you scroll down you'll find a blue divider that says, "Tips, Tidbits and Inspiration". Below that section you'll find a green divider that says "Work At Home Jobs".

I also want to point out that the only jobs (employment) listed in this ezine are listed in the Job section.  Any other work-at-home opportunities you come across will be affiliate programs, home businesses or work-at-home resources. So if you are hear solely for the jobs, you'll want to stick to the Work-At-Home Job feature.

Quick note on ads... I just want to remind readers that Work-At-Home Success  does accept advertising. Every attempt is made to check ads to make sure they offer legitimate opportunities. I have refunded or refused ads in the past that were found to be suspect. The site also feeds ads from Google Adsense. I do try to screen ads run through this service and block the scams; however, new ads are added all the time and they rotate making it difficult to always find the duds. If you find an ad that is questionable, please email me so I can remove it ASAP. Also, while WAHS runs ads, that doesn't mean it endorses the product or service offered. To learn more about WAHS's policies, visit WAHS Disclaimer Statement or see special notes below.

Five Ways to Earn Money at Home With Your Computer by Audrey Okaneko

Today, more than ever before, parents want to stay home with their young children. Many of these same families invest money in a personal computer and now want that computer to produce an income for them.

You can use your computer to produce an income, however the computer is only a business tool, much like a pen or pencil are each a business tool.

This article will explore five ways with which you can use your computer to aid you in producing an income from home.

Affiliate Marketing – Ten years ago, no one had heard this term. Today, it’s the rage. So what exactly is affiliate marketing? Well, let’s break down the two words. Affiliate means to be “attached” or “associated” with. Marketing means to sell. So, let’s say you are an affiliate for Walmart. You would be “attached” or “associated” with them. In other words you form a relationship with them, where you sell their products and they pay you a commission. Walmart is just one of the thousands of companies that allow you to join as an affiliate. When someone clicks the Walmart link on your page and makes a purchase you earn. As of this writing, the commission structure for this one company is between 5% and 12%. Not bad for having someone click through and buy. Keep in mind, you’ll need visitors to your site in order to find folks who want to click your ad. But this is what affiliate marketing is all about.

Virtual Assistant – This is yet another phrase that 10 years ago, no one had heard of. A virtual assistant is similar to an administrative assistant, the difference being the work is done at home, not in office. Here is just a partial list of what virtual assistants are hired to do:

Word Processing
Data Entry
Article Submission
Proof Reading
Ad Placing
Data Entry
Document Production
Business Card Design
Flyer Design
Letter Writing

These are all services you can offer via your computer and can complete using your computer. Many women I know have gone into virtual assisting as it’s very flexible for those with children.

Writer – More and more folks today are becoming freelance writers. People are writing poetry, short stories, magazine articles and ebooks. I own at least a dozen ebooks. Some were given to me as gifts, some were free and some were purchased. I actually have an ebook I’m working on right now. There are now article sites online that pay you for your articles.

Medical Billing and Bookkeeping  – Many women today have bookkeeping and billing services they run right out of their home. Keep in mind that bookkeeping and billing are the lifeline to any business, so business owners will not place this job into the hands of someone without experience. If you have experience in billing or bookkeeping consider purchasing the latest software and marketing your services to small businesses. Check help wanted ads for part time bookkeeper jobs in your local area. Market your services. Offer to come in once a week, while doing the remainder of your work at home.

Sell on ebay- This is one avenue that many sellers have chosen because of the name brand. Ebay is known world wide. You can sell literally anything on ebay. I have purchased crochet patterns which were nothing more than pages ripped out of a magazine. However I wanted the pattern and so I was willing to pay the price. I’ve purchased scrapbook supplies. I’ve purchased multi line phones for work. My daughter has sold products on ebay. She has visited garage sales and then resold those wares. She has purchased items on sale with coupons in stores and then sold those items. There are no limits on the items you can sell on ebay.

These are just 5 ways you can put your computer to work for you and make money at home with the use of your computer. The sky’s the limit when it comes to what you can do to earn an income.

Marketing Tips

Is My Advertising Effective? by freelancemom

Obviously the most critical aspect of a campaign is reaching your target market.  One of the best ways to find websites that reach your target market is to do a quick google search on keyword phrases that you feel your target market would search on.  Check out the advertising opportunities on the websites that show up fairly consistently on each of your searches.

Before placing an ad, contact the webmaster and find out how much traffic the website receives.  Be sure that your ad placement will be prominent on a page that gets frequent traffic.

If you are advertising with a banner ad, don't use a cheesy free ad.  Hire a graphic designer to create something visually appealing, unique, and that effectively helps brand your website.  This really doesn't have to be an expensive undertaking.  You can post a project on a website like www.elance.com and probably have a very good looking banner designed for $25.

If you are promoting a business opportunity it is especially important to have a banner of your own created.  Don't use the same banner that every other member in the network is using.  Chances are your competitors in the business network are all using the same banners.  In some ways, this is good because it can build brand recognition.  However, if people are used to seeing the ad at websites they frequent, they may block it out.

Make sure that your ad will appeal to the traffic of the website you are advertising on.  You may be promoting an advertisement about a home business opportunity for example.  If you plan to advertise on a website geared toward women, a banner ad with a fast car or a nude woman behind a hundred dollar bill just isn't going to motivate this segment of your target market to click.  You would do much better to run an ad that features competent business women, or mothers with young children.

It's equally important to consider your landing page.  If possible, try to create a unique page for each of your ad campaigns.  Gear it toward the type of traffic you will be attracting.  Even consider welcoming them directly.  If they click through from a site called 'XYZ.com' then you would say something like "Welcome XYZ.com visitors... Here is a special deal just for you", or some other targeted message.

This is a skillful method of recognizing the visitor and also taking advantage of the referring websites own branding and trust that they have built with their website visitors.

If you are advertising on well known, reputable sites - the click throughs are going to already be a warm lead for you.  Try to leverage the trust they have in the website they are coming from.

Don't limit yourself to just advertising however, consider other methods of driving traffic to your website.  For example, consider opening a Google Adwords account.  Adwords can be a very effective way of showing up on Google's own search results and many websites that host Google's ads.

Distributing articles to websites and article directories, participating in forums, blogging and commenting on blogs are all other ways of obtaining links from relevant websites.  Never use spammy techniques.  Always offer valuable comments, questions or information.  Consider every blog comment or forum post as a representation of your business.

Get involved, network and build a reputation for yourself that will earn the trust of your perspective website visitors.
