Work At Home Success Jobs and News August 10, 2007

Welcome to WAHS Jobs and News where each week you'll find work-at-home job announcements, articles to inspire and inform, scam alerts, telecommuting trends and much more!

Contents of this week's newsletter:

Notes From Leslie
The Six Pound Cake! My son likes to bake. He particularly likes to bake cakes and experiement with ingredients. This week was his birthday, and he decided to bake his own super-duper cake. It was a white cake with Mint Oreos and gummy worms baked inside. Between the two layers he had icing, whipped cream, and cookie dough. The whole thing was covered in icing, crushed Oreos, gummy worms, red licorice, and Butterfinger sprinkles. Now, I'm on a diet and have lost 10 lbs, but even I couldn't refuse a bite of cake. When I pulled it out from the fridge, I thought it was a bowling ball. It was so heavy, I couldn't resist weighing it. Six pounds! Of course, I'll gain more than that from just one little piece, but fortunately, its so rich and dense that you can't eat very much.

How to Use WAHS Jobs and News:
On occasion I get an email from someone who can't find the jobs posted in this newsletter, so I thought I'd give a quick overview on how to use the ezine.  In the section above this one, you'll find the contents of this week's ezine. Each feature now has a link so you can easily find the information you are looking for.  Each feature (Notes From Leslie, Tidbits, Jobs, etc) is separated by a color divider which the section contents indicated in the divider. For example, if you scroll down you'll find a blue divider that says, "Tips, Tidbits and Inspiration". Below that section you'll find a green divider that says "Work At Home Jobs".

I also want to point out that the only jobs (employment) listed in this ezine are listed in the Job section.  Any other work-at-home opportunities you come across will be affiliate programs, home businesses or work-at-home resources. So if you are hear solely for the jobs, you'll want to stick to the Work-At-Home Job feature.

Quick note on ads... I just want to remind readers that Work-At-Home Success  does accept advertising. Every attempt is made to check ads to make sure they offer legitimate opportunities. I have refunded or refused ads in the past that were found to be suspect. The site also feeds ads from Google Adsense. I do try to screen ads run through this service and block the scams; however, new ads are added all the time and they rotate making it difficult to always find the duds. If you find an ad that is questionable, please email me so I can remove it ASAP. Also, while WAHS runs ads, that doesn't mean it endorses the product or service offered. To learn more about WAHS's policies, visit WAHS Disclaimer Statement or see special notes below.

Tips, Tidbits and Inspiration

Work At Home Guaranteed! by Leslie Truex

Don't worry, this article isn't going to tout the next great do-nothing-make-money-at-home opportunity. Instead, its going to tell you exactly how to successfully work at home...guaranteed. If you follow these steps, there is no reason why you can't be earning an income from the comfort of your home.

Step One: Give up the idea that you'll sign up for a job or home business, and the money will follow. Jobs require skills and experience, and you must go through an application process. Home businesses require marketing, providing a product or service, and more marketing. Any ad you read that tells you 'We'll build your business for you' or 'sign up to make $100's doing surveys' (or typing, stuffing envelopes or anything else) are going to be scams or deceptive work-at-home offers. Ads are designed to entice you to spend your money now and so they aren't going to tell you how much work it is to be successful. So I'm going to tell you. Everyone I know who works at home, works hard. They don't lick envelopes, surf the net, or type ads. The do real jobs they earned or run real businesses like the CEO they are.

Step Two: Decide how bad you want to work at home. I used to ask people to rank how big their desire to work-at-home was. A ten was "I absolutely HAVE to work at home and will do anything to make it happen". A one was "Working at home would be nice, but not necessary".  When we begin to process ideas all I would hear was "I can't do that" which I usually translated into "I won't do that". Part of the problem was alluded to in step one which is the idea that finding and succeeding at working at home is easy. (Its simple, but not always easy.) What I have learned is that most people (90-98%) don't want to work at home bad enough to challenge themselves. If they can't sign up and make money, then they don't want it. If you REALLY want to work at home, you have to be willing accept the challenge and do what it takes. It doesn't mean you have to be a salesman and cold call, although it might. But it does mean that you need educate yourself, invest time and money WISELY, and keep your eye on the prize when the going gets tough. Success doesn't happen when you find yourself making money at home. It happens the moment you decide that you will become a success no matter what, and then never give up. Only those who truly want to work at home actually keep their commitment and achieve their goal.

Step Three: Make progress not excuses. "My son is sick," "My father-in-law was hospitalized," "My computer crashed," "The weather is bad," "The economy is bad," "I have no time," "I have no money." Everyone, you, me, the neighbors, everyone has challenges in their lives. I can guarantee that stuff will happen that will get in the way of your goal because it happens to everyone. The difference is that some people use these excuses to let go of their goals and dreams while others figure out how to work around them. Monday I had an appointment to get my car fixed and then ran errands. Later that day I had to return to town to buy my son's birthday present. But I still got an hour or so of work done. Tuesday I had to supervise while my children baked cakes and had a phone conference with a company I do contract work for. Still, I was able to get a few emails out for my business. On Wednesday it was my son's birthday and my husband took the day off, so I had to too. I got up early, did an hour or so of work, and then spent the day with my family. Today I had to teach a class, take my kids to business day at school, and run some errands. Yet I'm writing this article and preparing for my call tonight. If I blow off my work, I won't get paid. The same is true for everyone. So if you really want to work at home (see number 2), find a way around the challenges. Work on goals or marketing tactics while sitting with a sick child. Carry a book that can teaches marketing or running a small business with you and read it during waiting times (I brought  The Secrets to the Millionaire Mind with me to my kids doctor appointment this morning to read in the waiting room). Find a computer at the library you can work on. Take a day with your family, but make sure to fit in time later to make up the work you missed.

Step Four: Make a plan. Its easy to let challenges stop you before you start (see number 3). This is particularly true  if you don't know exactly what you should be doing. Life is busy.  So you need to schedule time for your work-at-home goal. Take an hour before work or during a baby's nap to list your goals, determine the action steps needed to reach that goal, and set dates for completing the steps. I use a planner on my computer and write down EVERYTHING I need to do in my life...personal and professional, and I assign it all a date by which it needs to be done. This way, every day I'm getting something done and always moving toward my goal or at least maintaining my momentum. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. You don't want to fail, so make a plan.

In working at home, its not about what you choose to do. As long as you choose something legal and that will actually make money, it doesn't matter if you sell stuff on eBay, join a network marketing company, get a work-at-home job, or anything else. Successfully working at home isn't found in the program. Its found in YOU! I'm a success because despite the set backs (and there were and continue to be many), I kept on keeping on. I studied, learned from mistakes, kept working my plan and never quit. So as you continue your quest to work-at-home, keep in mind the four steps above because they are the key to your success.

Marketing Tips

How To Get Testimonials For Your Online Business

By Brian D. McElroy

Testimonials are a great resource for business. And there are many ways to gather them. Here are some of the more popular methods used, in no particular order of preference.

1) Automation – Check with automated solutions to help solicit feedback / testimonials. For example, with some auction software like eBay allow you to set up customized automated messages to ask for comments and feedback. Insert a number to let the system know how many days to wait after the purchase to email the message, and you’re set up for all your future auctions.

Same thing with autoresponders: preload a message in your autoresponder that asks for testimonials and have it go out a few days after your ‘Thank You’ for your purchase message goes out or automated download link is delivered by email. Follow up a week later with another one, just in case the first is ignored or filtered out for some reason.

2) Take the lead and let your customers know you seek testimonials to update your marketing materials. Ask them to respond to specific points about their purchase like the quality, speed of delivery, value for the money, etc. This will help you get more of a response than brief comments.

3) Write a case study on your client and then submit it for their approval. You can do the same with detailed feedback / testimonial comments, too. In other words, write out what you’d like the comment to say, then send it back for proofing to make sure the client will agree that it is accurate and works for them.

4) Get a system in place to always seek testimonials. For example, have a prewritten message in your Draft folder that is triggered by a sales letter from your auctions and online stores that mentions a Thank You for the purchase plus asks for testimonials. Or set up a similar system where this is a step in the communication process for each new buyer.

5) Check out software scripts that you can place on your website to invite people to leave testimonials similar to leaving comments on blogs.

6) Call or write personal letters and postcards. Include a notice of thanks and request for testimonials for your online marketing use.

Get in tune with other ways people ask you to leave testimonials, too. Then reach out and ask!
