I’m reading T. Harv Eker’s book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind and
(90707)
have come across some inspirational and motivational gems. On page 69 he discusses the three levels of wanting. “The first level is ‘I want to be rich.’ That’s another way of saying, ‘I’ll take it if it falls in my lap.’ … Wealth does not come from merely wanting it. How do you know this is true? With a simple reality check: Billions of people want to be rich, relatively few are.”
I marked this page because it said exactly what I often felt about people who write me about working at home. So many people want to work at home, but so few do. People will send me email after email about survey programs, bogus typing systems, and other schemes that make it appear as if working at home simply involves signing up. But it doesn’t. And even when I share my little pearls of wisdom, they still email me back wanting my opinion of the same types of programs I just told them wouldn’t work.
Wanting something is important as it can create the motivation to take action. But its not enough. Mr. Eker describes two other levels of “wanting”; choosing and committing. He says that committing “means being willing to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes … No excuses, no ifs, no buts, no maybes - and failure is not an option.” This is the attitude required to work at home as well. I have met many people who are successfully working at home, and all of them had to work through frustrations and disappointments, and keep working with blind faith, until they reached their goal.
As you continue on your work-at-home journey, ask yourself if you want to work at home, or are you committed to working at home? Do you have to work at home or would it simply be nice? Are you willing to dedicate yourself 100% to the effort or are you waiting for the perfect opportunity to appear?
The book has other great tips and ideas to help you develop a successful mindset and create wealth in your life.
