Work At Home Success Story: Christina Daves, PRforAnyone and CastMedic
This week’s Work-At-Home Success story comes from Christina Daves of PRforAnyone and CastMedic
Christina Daves is a serial entrepreneur who has founded and run five successful companies over the past 20 years. With no resources remaining when she launched her latest venture, CastMedic Designs, Christina taught herself everything she could about generating her own publicity, which basically provided her free-advertising for her business. Since launching in 2012, she has appeared in over 250 media outlets including national and local television and publications. As a result of this success, she launched PR for Anyone® to help other small business owners have similar success. Together with her clients, Christina has generated over 7 figures in sales from free publicity. Christina is also the author of the bestselling book, PR for Anyone™ – 100+ Affordable Ways to Easily Create Buzz for Your Business.
1) How did you get started (basic initial steps)?
With a freak accident, I broke my foot and ended up in a medical boot. I was headed to NYC, Fashion Capital of the World, and desperately wanted to make the boot look better. There was nothing on the market so I created the product, MediFashions. I had no money for advertising or a publicist so I became a DIY-PR expert and ended up in over 50 media outlets in my first year of business including national outlets like the Steve Harvey Show. Fellow entrepreneurs were going crazy about my PR success and always asking for help so that launched PR for Anyone.
2) How did you get your first client or customer or job?
My first CastMedic client came from someone who read about me in an accessories magazine in New York. It was before we launched and before we had product so I sent her prototypes. Turns out she is a diplomat and took pictures of her in CastMedic Designs all over Europe which was fun to share when we launched. I can’t remember who my first PR for Anyone client was because they all came so fast and furiously.
3) How do you market your business?
4)What advice would you give someone who wants to be successful like you?
NEVER give up on your passion!!! Whatever fire you had in your belly that made you launch this business, dig deep to find that when things get rough. I’ve also done some crazy guerrilla marketing that has made me successful.
