The other day I interviewed Karen Eidson of FabGrandma.com about her blog for Profit Blog Blueprint. Karen’s blog is still in the growing stage, but she’s been successful in getting PR companies to contact her about reviewing or writing about their clients’ products and services. Even so, Karen indicated that many big companies don’t target grandmas or baby boomers when seeking marketing opportunities. She wasn’t sure why that was, after all grandmas buy stuff too. Do they think grandmas aren’t tech savvy and don’t spend time on the Internet? I can tell them that’s not true. A significant number of people who contact me about working at home are retired or about to retire. They are searching the Internet and using email just like moms do. And many are blogging, like Karen.
Karen doesn’t let this slow her down. She’s worked with many big names such as Tyson, Rubbermaid and Tassimo. Along with writing reviews, Karen shares about her family, gluton-free eating, sewing and quilting, and her life traveling in an RV.
And for those of you who think you’re too old or don’t have the skills, Karen shared that she’s making a living writing, even though she wasn’t able get through 9th grade English. You can check out Karen’s blog at FabGrandma.com.
