Discover How Jeannette Paxia Started Her Health Coaching Business from Home


Jeannette Paxia received her health coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. She studied with Jack Canfield to become a Canfield Principles Trainer (The Success Principles, by Jack Canfield). With her knowledge, she co-creates completely personalized actions based on her client’s goals to move them toward their ideal vision of health within their unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and resources.

1) How did you get started working from home?

I was working at home as a Medical Informatics Professional so it was an easy transition for me to work at home as the owner of my own business.

2) How did you choose the work-at-home career you do? 

I realized I wasn’t happy in the career I was working in. I spent some time focusing on what I am happiest doing and that’s helping people. I found a career that I knew I would be happy doing and could help people at the same time.

3) How did you get started (basic initial steps)? 

I enrolled in some additional education and became certified as a health coach and Canfield Success Principles speaker/trainer. I then worked on my business name/logo/website. Next I advertised and through word-of-mouth notified people of my business.

4) How did you get your first client or customer or job?

By researching and asking people for information and assistance. You have to know who to go to for assistance and/or information. Next, you have to have enough courage to ask and keep on asking until you get what you need.

5) How do you market your business?

Through local businesses, networking groups, churches, face book and word-of-mouth.

6) What does your usual day look like?

I make sure that my work and personal life are separate. When people work from home, they have to be able to separate the two. I get my kids off to school and then come home and review my calendar. I then complete my projects and meetings as scheduled. I have a very organized and scheduled day. I make sure to walk away from my computers to have lunch. I also make sure to schedule in time to move during the day. Otherwise, I could get lost in the world of work
and sit for 8 hours straight.

7) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

The importance of scheduling time for you.

8) What advice would you give someone who wants to work from home?

You have to make sure that you are capable of creating a work/life balance and that you are disciplined enough to get up and ready for work every day, as if you are scheduled to go into the office.
