1) How did you get started working from home?
It started as a challenge to myself to see if I could do it for 3 months. Once I had proven that to myself, that’s when I realized working from home is the best option for me.
2) How did you choose the work-at-home career you do?
I wanted to do something that I love which is strategizing and creating experiences for other people. It took me 3 failed businesses to really be able to articulate that was what I wanted to do and create a business around it.
3) How did you get started (basic initial steps)?
Actually, I started with a lot of research and online courses that taught me about business. From there I created my website, registered my business and started my agency.
4) How did you get your first client or customer or job?
I found my first client in the newspaper. There was an article written about a new supermarket that was being built in my neighborhood. I found the marketing person in charge and relentlessly reached out.
5) How do you market your business?
It’s about getting yourself out there so there’s a lot of networking, conferences, and events that I go to. In addition to that, I speak on stage about what we do as an agency.
6) What does your usual day look like?
Every day is different but in the mornings I set aside time for myself to read or listen to podcasts from personal growth to business content. I respond to emails and client calls. Some days it involves being hands-on for projects that we’re working on whether its designing experiences, strategizing for brands, scouting for locations, casting talent for campaigns, and more.
7) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
Marketing your business along with PR is a continuous process and a must do no matter what size business you own.
8) What advice would you give someone who wants to work from home?
Entrepreneurs who work from home can easily become isolated so it’s important that you make sure you get out, meet new people and connect. If you have the means to outsource certain things do so because it allows you to really work on the things that make you feel alive.
