I’ve been involved with social media for sometime, but to be honest, for a long time I felt adrift in the tweets and pins and shares, etc. As an avid reader, I’ve read tons of books and articles on how to do social media, but nearly all lacked one crucial component: How to you actually make a social media plan?
Most resources on social media go through each network explaining how they work, how to create a profile and the best things to post. But, except for recommending a social media tool such as Hootsuite to manage posts and feeds, no resource I’ve found adequately provides tips on how to make a doable plan for social media marketing.
I’ve finally taken care of that by posting How to Create a Social Media Marketing Plan over at Home Business About.com. Although this plan isn’t the only way you can use social media to promote yourself, it does provide information about planning your posts, how to integrate multiple platforms and tools you can use. It even includes a sample plan you can tweak to meet your needs.
