Never underestimate the value of branding on packages. Consider the packages you receive. There’s never any doubt when you see the arrow on a package that it came from Amazon. Packaging can be a valuable component of your branding, and an important way of marketing yourself. A folding carton with your business logo is very inexpensive to print in bulk, especially if you’re not utilizing any color printing.
You can also put your logo on giveaway products, like pens or notebooks, for freebies that people will actually use.
Follow Business Start-Up Regulations
Home businesses tend to fly under the radar, but that doesn’t excuse you from following laws and regulations. Not complying with the laws and regulations of your state exposes you to fines, penalties, and possibly litigation.
This is especially true when you’re preparing food, a popular home industry. Even if you’re selling honey or jam at a local state fair, you may be required to adhere to specific guidelines and possibly purchase a permit. Every state is different in this regard, so consult with an attorney if you don’t feel confident in your state’s laws.
Create a Website
Today, no business expecting to be successful should go without a website. Even if your business is focused locally, you should have an online presence. A website is the modern day business card, sales tool, and more. Many people don’t use the phone book anymore. Instead they use the Internet. So make sure you can be found by having a website, that includes contact information so clients and customers can reach you.
Along with contact information, you’re website should have helpful and interesting information. For example, if you sell baked goods, your site should have beautiful high-resolution photography of the products you bake and the packaging they are shipped with. The rule of thumb is to provide information, both in text and visually, that highlight the quality and value of what you offer.

Make sure that you carefully evaluate all of the information at hand before you decide spend money in your home business. A lack of money is one of the top reasons businesses fail.
