1) How did you get started working from home?
I was really terrible at being an employee, the 2 jobs I did have were very short lived. I decided that trying out being a business owner would be a better option for me and so I basically started my business on a whim.
2) How did you choose the work-at-home career you do?
My first work at home career I chose because I was planning my own wedding at the time and so it made sense. What I do now is something I progressed into after building up my own business, I was naturally good at helping others so decided to take something I was doing on the side as a hobby and turn it into my full time work from home business.
3) How did you get started (basic initial steps)?
Decided on my target market and what my niche inside that market would be, started social media accounts and came up with a simple plan of how to get in front of my ideal clients. Then it was a case of also networking like crazy to get as many connections as I could.
4) How did you get your first client or customer or job?
It was actually a post I put into a Facebook group advertising my services.
5) How do you market your business?
I have a simple marketing strategy that focuses on social media, collaborations and basically getting exposure in the places where I know my ideal clients seek advice (podcasts, magazines etc) I also engage directly with my ideal clients where I know they hang out.
6) What does your usual day look like?
Well I have 3 little ones so I don’t have a usual day as such by an average day will be doing the school and nursery run, I’ll then spend the time walking home getting some initial things done from my to-do list this means that by 9:45am I’m done with all of my daily tasks. Then I’ll have a couple of client calls, before doing a Facebook live. Then it’s collecting them from school spending time with them before an hours work between 8-9pm and then it’s chill time and my evening routine.
7) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
It’s the things you feel less ready for that you need to do because they’ll make the biggest impact on where you want to be.
8) What advice would you give someone who wants to work from home?
Choose something that you’re passionate about and be specific with your niche when starting out.
