Ask Leslie
Question: Hi Leslie, I was wondering, can you make money at Demand Studios? I see they’re always hiring, but aren’t sure if it’s a good place to work.
Answer: Yes, you can make money at Demand Studios. Demand Studios is owned by Demand Media which in an Internet content provider. It provides articles to eHow, LIVESTRONG, and several regional newspapers’ Internet sites. These days Demand Studios is more choosey about who it hires. You need either writing or work experience in the topic area. If you are a professional writer already, you might be discouraged at how little you get paid per article ($7 to $30 depending on topic or outlet). For example, you might get $25 for small business and financial articles or $30 for health and fitness. The good about Demand Studios is that you can write as much or as little as you want. If you can crank out 5 $30 articles a day, that’s $150 a day. (Articles have to pass through an editor and you get only one chance to fix an article after an edit). The bad, is that sometimes topics go dry, which means no writing assignments. So you might not want to put all your eggs in the Demand Studios basket. To avoid that, you’ll want to try and get approved for several topic areas if you can.

WAHS Hall of Shame – Scam Alert
I’ve been getting a lot of scam email about direct deposits, bank issues or other “problems” that require me to download something or click a link. I can’t tell how CAREFUL you need to be about email of this type. Even when I get an email that I think is legit from a source I use, I never click the link within the email…just in case. These scams are either trying to steal your identity (i.e. asking you to verify or fix financial info) or sending you a virus or trying to steal your identity by having you download something that gives them access to your computer (such as passwords). Scrutinize your email carefully, to avoid inadvertently falling victim to scammers.
