1) How did you get started working from home?
I have been in the life insurance arena since getting out of college and began primarily working in the mail room for a wholesale life brokerage agency.
Since I have worked in life insurance my whole working career, I finally took the step to open up my own agency and be my own boss all while working from my home.
2) How did you get your first client or customer or job?
I was fortunate that most of my customers came thru referrals and contacts from my history in the industry.
3) How do you market your business?
My business is primarily marketed thru word of mouth, referrals and my online blog.
4) What does your usual day look like?
Typical day is primarily spent on the speaking or meeting with prospects about coverage and also following up with pending new business and customer updates. Also time is spent updating blog.
5) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
I know now that you will actually spend much more time working from home than an office sense you have less distractions and no time clock to push.
6) What advice would you give someone who wants to work from home?
Must be disciplined. I advise get up and get dressed just as if you were actually going into an office. Also, try to have your workspace set up away from the main area of the home so as to not get distracted from door bells ringing, deliveries, TV, news, etc.
